The culture at EllisDon is incredibly collaborative, inclusive, and growth oriented. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported, not just as a student, but as a valued contributor to the team. The environment encourages curiosity and continuous learning, which makes it easy to ask questions, take initiative, and gain hands-on experience. Whether it was through mentorship, team-building activities, or working on a major infrastructure project like the NCD Parking Garage here in Ottawa, I always felt like I was part of something bigger. That culture of trust and empowerment had a huge impact on my confidence and professional development.
What advice would you give to a student interested in starting their career at EllisDon?
Be open, be curious, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. EllisDon offers a wealth of opportunities to learn and grow, but it’s up to you to take advantage of them. Ask questions, build relationships, and take initiative, whether it’s volunteering for a task or joining a site tour. Also, lean into the culture: participate in team events, connect with mentors, and embrace the collaborative spirit.
