EllisDon offers an Employee Share Ownership which grants employees shares on an annual basis. This provides longevity and ownership in your career at EllisDon. To find out more about the program, refer to the FAQ.

Competitive compensation

EllisDon provides a competitive base salary that is rooted in both internal and external data. Your salary will be reviewed annually and any increases are provided based on what’s happening in local markets and assessing experience and capabilities that an individual brings.

Education

EllisDon will reimburse employees who complete a work-related course on the condition that the employee successfully completes the course.

We also provide internal resources such as the Harvard ManageMentor leadership learning program which focuses on timely and foundational leadership skills and behaviors including; Leading People, Negotiating, and Decision Making. In addition, there is the Odyssey Leadership program which is a self-directed, self-paced leadership development program.

Profit Sharing

We believe that all employees should share in the profitability which they help create. Every year we take a percentage of profits and allocate this to be distributed among our employees across the company. The most important objective of EllisDon’s profit sharing program is fairness, taking into account every relevant factor. When making the decision about what amount of profit sharing should be given on an individual basis, there are many factors taken into consideration.

  • Your Role in the Company
  • Your Performance
  • To be eligible for profit sharing, you must be actively employed and working in a full-time salaried permanent role for at least 6 months as of February 28th of that year. If you have less than a year of service or were on leave for a portion of the year, your profit sharing amount will be pro-rated proportionately.
  • We determine profit sharing at the same time as our Annual Salary Increases are reviewed, however profit sharing is not paid out until June 15th in order to allow for the audit of EllisDon’s financial statements. In order to receive your profit sharing you must be employed with EllisDon at the time of the payout.

Volunteer Recognition Grants:

EllisDon supports employees philanthropic ambitions with our employee giving program called Building Vital communities. We believe by investing in programs designed to serve local community needs, our contributions will help build strong and healthy communities.

Whether we participate through individual acts of kindness or by working with others through community-wide efforts, we take care of those who are less fortunate and vulnerable.

Our Building Vital Communities program builds on our history of community service and includes: Matching Grants EllisDon will match donations made by an employee to a charity for up to $1,000 in each fiscal year.

Volunteer Recognition Grants Where an employee has volunteered with a charity for at least 25 hours in a fiscal year, EllisDon will make a donation of $1,000 to that charity in that fiscal year.

Work life balance/vacation:

EllisDon understands a successful company must be built on trust and flexibility. We believe it is important that all employees take time each year to recharge, do the things they want, and balance their work and personal lives.

All employees are entitled to progressive vacation entitlements starting at 3 weeks upon employment.

From first day of employment - 3 weeks

After five years - 4 weeks

After twenty years - 5 weeks

Thirty years plus - 6 weeks

Summer hours: In line with the EllisDon values of Freedom and Mutual Accountability, we offer Summer Hours.

The summer is a time to enjoy with family and friends while maintaining the need to be flexible.

You have the choice between the three options below so you can maximize the most out of summer:

Leave at 3:00 every Friday.

Leave at noon every other Friday.

Take every fourth Friday off.

Family Planning Leave of Absence:

Growing your family can be an exciting and stressful journey and can start in many different ways including through adoption and fostering. EllisDon knows all families are unique and wants to help all parents. We know that as soon-to-be parents, you and your loved ones are preparing as much as you can for these upcoming changes and you may need extra support.

Our pregnancy leave program provides all birth parents with 100% top up for 15 weeks. Our parental leave provides all non-birth parents with an 80% top up for 6 weeks. Our adoptive and foster parent leave provides 10 days of paid leave per year to parents during the pre-adoption process, as well as allow those welcoming children into their homes on a temporary basis.

Benefits: Newcomers to Canada are eligible for the Welcome plan. This plan entitles employees and their families access to healthcare during the mandatory provincial waiting period.

Maintaining an overall wellness is important and to help support that EllisDon offers a comprehensive benefits package that is available to employees as soon as they start their employment. These benefits includes:

  • $3,000 per family member of dental coverage
  • $400 per family member of vision coverage
  • Prescription coverage
  • $200 per calendar year in a Health Spending Account
  • $1,500 in physical health paramedical services
  • $1,500 in mental health paramedical services
  • Assistance with finding a general practitioners

EAP/Wellness:

EllisDon is partnering with Inkblot as our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Provider to provide mental health and well-being support.

Well-being extends beyond just our physical health, and as part of our continued efforts to support holistic employee wellness, Inkblot is here for you. They offer an easy-to-use digital first approach to whole health, so you can access it from anywhere, at any time. You are able to use their personalized matching system to ensure you get the best therapeutic match for your counseling needs. You are also able to schedule a virtual or in-person appointment within 24-72 hours. Through EllisDon you are entitled to 10 hours per year of confidential counseling. Once you've used up that allowance, you can still continue your sessions with the same counselor at a discounted rate that you can have reimbursed through your paramedical mental health coverage, and/or your health spending account.
